Thin layer chromatography (TLC) is a physico-chemical separation method used to investigate the composition of samples. Particular advantages of this chromatographic method are the low equipment requirements, the speed, the high separation performance and the low substance demand. It is used, for example, for rapid detection of the purity of a substance or for checking its identity with a reference substance. It is also possible to follow the course of chemical reactions in the laboratory with little effort.
