Fourier transform infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR)
The FTIR spectrometer (abbreviation for Fourier transform infrared spectrometer or Fourier transform infrared spectrometer) is a special variant of a spectrometer, a measuring device for infrared spectroscopy; in this context, it is also often referred to as FTIR spectroscopy. Unlike dispersive instruments, FTIR spectrometers do not record the spectrum by changing the wavelength stepwise. Instead, it is calculated by a Fourier transform of a measured interferogram. The essential component of the spectrometer is the interferometer.
