Filter tips
Filter tips offer an advantage wherever maximum cleanliness is required during pipetting. The hydrophobic filter material prevents the transfer of aerosols and liquids from the sample to the pipette shaft and, conversely, prevents contamination from the shaft into the sample. Filter tips should therefore always be used when protection of the sample (and the pipette) is essential: in sensitive molecular biology techniques such as PCR, when working with potentially infectious materials such as blood, bacterial and viral samples, and when handling radioactive liquids.
