Chemicals - Fluorides

Fluorides are the salts of hydrofluoric acid (HF), also known as hydrofluoric acid. They contain fluoride ions (F-) in their ion lattice as negative lattice building blocks (anions). In addition, covalent, non-ionic compounds of non-metals as well as organic fluorine compounds such as the fluorocarbons or carboxylic acid derivatives are also obsoletely and incorrectly called fluorides. Also the so-called oxygen fluorides have nothing to do with salt-like fluorides and also nothing to do with oxides, because in them the oxygen has not a negative but a positive oxidation number.
