A glovebox (also isolator) is a container that is hermetically and gas-tight sealed from the surrounding workspace. A defined atmosphere can be generated inside the glovebox for processing sensitive or hazardous substances. Gas-tight (butyl) glove penetrations allow isolated access to the interior, hence the name “glove box.” Materials are transferred via chambers or airlocks that can be evacuated and via media connections.
